David "Dave" Luther McAnally

David Luther McAnally, 76, of Davenport, Iowa; joined his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 11am at the Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704 38th St Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials in Dave’s name may be made to Missions at Edgewood Baptist Church.

Dave was born on March 29, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Luther and Ruth McAnally. He attended Des Moines Technical High School and Iowa State University. On May 11, 1968, he was united in marriage to Ruth Carnahan, also from Des Moines. They raised two children together, son Cory and daughter Amy. Dave had many passions throughout his life. Dave’s Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was first in his life, teaching Sunday School for over 18 years and traveling on missions including building Christian orphanages in India. He thoroughly loved his wife, kids, and grandkids and enjoyed all the time he could spend with them.

Dave was a true entrepreneur, finding opportunities for building businesses in several different ventures. He was also passionate about all things mechanical, whether it was airplanes, cars, or motorcycles. He enjoyed building and racing cars as well as long motorcycles rides with Ruth. In later years Dave excelled at building furniture and remodeling homes. While others would only think about how fun or exciting something would be, Dave would actually do it. He was known for his passionate spirit and “can do” attitude.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of nearly 55 years, Ruth; son Cory, daughter Amy (Josh) Miller; grandchildren David, Anna, and Michael; five adopted daughters in India: Puii, Linda, Rebecca, Leisha, and Lydia Lulu; his brother Rick; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Ruth.
