David was born September 23, 1960 in Davenport, Iowa to parents Nicholas C. and Ursula M. Kremer. He attended Davenport West High School where he graduated in 1978 and then attended classes at the University of Iowa. David helped build and was a partner in the 5ive Star Salon Spa in the Village of East Davenport where he was a massage therapist and where he applied his skills as a Jack-of-All-Trades. Family acquired skills allowed him to build residential homes. He was a partner in Davenport Public Storage and Nick Kremer & Sons, Inc. and he was a proud member of the Village Board of East Davenport. We would be remiss if we did not say how happy David was to be a part of the Village of East Davenport family.
Whether it was behind the stick of a Cessna or completing an Outward Bound boot camp, David had a zest for life. It was not uncommon to find him training in the gym or relaxing at Yoga. He loved traveling, domestically and abroad, but he was equally happy sitting at home behind a good book. David enjoyed being outdoors. Activities such as gardening, bicycling, the riggers of triathlons and kayaking were but a few of his joys. Recently he received great pleasure in volunteering his time to Huizenga Farms, at the Davenport Farmer’s Market, and to the Great River Brewery, in Davenport, where his fermenter, “Dah-veed!”, will keep friends and patrons in good cheer for years to come.
David’s greatest enjoyment came from all of you, family and friends that would let him in… To all of you, you have our deepest thanks.
Though his life would seem too short to many, those who were touched by him will understand that the quality of his existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which he lived.
People that met David could not help but love him. His smile and eagerness to engage with others, seeing only their positive sides, brightened the lives of many… making it only sadder, that while his light dimmed there were not enough stars shining on him to guide him home… God speed, my brother. Thank you for the laughter, the tears, the irrepressible enthusiasm, the conversation and, oh my, the dreams… but most of all for your enduring love.
David is survived by his mother, Ursula; two brothers and their spouses, Nick & Sue Kremer, John & Yu Kremer and 5 nieces and nephews along with 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas.
A gathering celebrating David’s memory will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 4:00pm at the Great River Brewery, 332 E. 2nd Street Davenport, IA 52801. He would want to see your smile.
