David L. DeGan, 74, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at IRC in Silvis, Illinois. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 12:30pm at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be at Weerts Funeral Home on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 10 – 12pm, we will then process over to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial’s in David’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Davenport Chapter of Gambler’s Anonymous.
David was born on June 24, 1949 in Freeport, Illinois to Robert and Mary DeGan. Following high school, David joined the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Carolee, they later divorced. David worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as a High Voltage and Hydro-plant Supervisor for 41 years, before he retired in 2023. He loved to run and ran in every local race that he could with his son. David visited the McClellen Stockade every weekend to hang out with friends.
Those left to honor his memory are his son Mitch DeGan (Nina Diaz), step daughter Allison Schwartz, and ex-wife Carolee DeGan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Leonard DeGan.
