David E. Benge

A private family gathering for David E. Benge, 59, of Davenport, was held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. There will be no public visitation or services. Cremation rites have been accorded as was his wish. David died on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center West Campus following a lengthy illness.David Eugene Benge was born on February 22, 1952 in Waterloo, IA, the son of Eugene and Margaret (Hitt) Benge. He attended Davenport Central High School and was employed for many years at the former Security World. He also worked for some time as a professional driver.David was an avid NASCAR fan, loved working on computers, liked playing poker with the guys, and most especially enjoyed fishing.Survivors include – his Daughter: Anna Calvert of Davenport; his Mother: Margaret Benge of Davenport; a Brother: Steven (Diane) Benge of Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father in 2002.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
