Darrell Dean Twigg

Darrell Dean Twigg, 72, of Long Grove, Iowa passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Genesis West in Davenport. Following cremation, no visitation or service is planned. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.

Darrell was born February 2, 1939 in Long Grove, Iowa, the son of Clyde and Hazel Twigg. In 1956 he joined the Marines and traveled from California to Japan. In 1960 he returned to Long Grove and the Quad City area to work for Priester. He married Meridith K. Parr in 1964 and had two children, Darren and Cherie. In 1966 he started work at Titan Wheel, moving his family back to Long Grove. He was a volunteer fireman there and owned a service station. In 1990, Darrell moved to Walcott, Iowa, where he retired from Titan Wheel in 2001. Following retirement, he took a year off and traveled the United States to visit friends and family. On June 15, 2011 he moved to Long Grove from Walcott.

Darrell left behind a son, Darren Twigg of Long Grove, a daughter Cherie Twigg (Kim Congleton) of Long Grove; grandchildren: Courtney Twigg (Kyle Lane) of Dewitt, Iowa, Cody Twigg of Park View, Iowa and Carly Twigg of Long Grove; very special friend Sandy Mostaert of Walcott, Iowa; brother Jack Twigg (Anna) of Chicago, Illinois and sister Vicki Kearney of Eldridge, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Larry, Nina, Denny, Mike, Pam and David.

Darrell wanted to say thank you to all his friends.
