

Darrell Dean "Bud" Darland, 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at his Davenport home. Funeral Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Davenport on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 10:30 am.. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4 pm at Runge Mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church, Davenport or The American Cancer Society. Bud was born the son of Bruce and Dorothea (Mace) Darland in Iowa City, IA on July 26, 1933. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1951 and was united in marriage to Alice (Lorrie) Fowler on August 11th 1956.
Bud was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time teaching his children how to do the finer things in life like playing ball, fishing and playing the gut bucket while singing songs around the campfire. He was a dedicated Iowa Hawkeye fan and traveled to several post-season games including the Alamo Bowl, Gator Bowl, Peach Bowl, and Rose Bowl. He enjoyed exploring the U.S., visiting all but 4 states. Bud was a bowling enthusiast for over 35 years and traveled the country competing in state and national tournaments. Darrell was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Davenport where he served on the Board of Deacons and helped out wherever needed. He especially enjoyed cooking the pancake dinners and working with the Boy Scout Troop. Bud retired from Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company after 40 years of service.

and is survived by his children (and spouses): Cathleen (Steven) Lambrecht, Coal Valley, IL; Dianna (Stephen) Arnold, Davenport, IA; Sandra (Mickey) Meeks, Yorktown, VA; David Darland, Davenport, IA; Sheryl Patterson, Las Vegas, NV; Daniel (Patricia) Darland, DeWitt, IA; Rebecca (Charles) Pierson, Moline, IL; Douglas (Erin) Darland, Davenport, IA: sister Betty (Marvin) Ball Kansas City, MO; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorrie, sister Shirley Rocky, brother Dale Darland, grandson Carter Darland, and great grandson Shawn Darland.
