Daniel E. Spears

Daniel E. Spears, 78, of Davenport was freed from his struggle with an ongoing illness on Thursday, September 25, 2014 in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his family. Per his request, cremation rites were accorded. There will be no services. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Daniel was born November 24, 1935 in Davis County, Iowa; the son of William Henry and Grace (Matheney) Spears. He was united in marriage to Wanda Trauffer in August 1981 in Davenport. He proudly served in the US Army.

He started his work career at Seven City Sod Farm later working with INPRO in Milan for many years after which, he returned to work on the sod farm; which he loved.

He was a gentle and kind man who didn’t have any enemies. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Those honoring his life include his wife of 33 years, Wanda; children: Jackie, Jimmy, Tami and Derek; step-children: Jeff, Terry and Becky; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and siblings, Reva and Linda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Butch, four brothers, one sister and step-children, Craig and Lori.
