Charlotte I. White, 90, of Davenport passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Crest Health Care Center in Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 11 am-1 pm on Saturday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.
Mrs. White was born October 2, 1921 in Holton, Kansas, a daughter of Robert and Clarice (Grubbs) Todd. On April 25, 1946 she married George R. White in Holton. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2011.
She was first employed by Denison State Bank in Holton, Kansas. Later she was employed by First Federal in Davenport and retired from Lindquist Ford in Bettendorf after twenty-eight years of service.
Her memberships included the PTA and Newcomb Presbyterian Church in Davenport, where she formerly taught Sunday school. In earlier years she was active in Dad’s Club baseball and Cub Scouts. She was a Befriender at Genesis East for twenty-five years, a volunteer reader at Harrison School, and was an excellent seamstress.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Karen and Robert Shirk of Ames, Iowa, son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Linda White of Davenport; grandchildren Angie Shirk of Ames and Todd Shirk of Urbandale, Iowa; a sister, Mary Hower of Holton, Kansas and a brother, Clarence Todd of Effingham, Kansas.
