Charles E. “Chuck” a.k.a. PawPaw Wince, 83, of Davenport passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 1015 at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, June 8, 2015 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 11 am-12 Noon Monday at the mortuary. Private burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. “Chuck” was born on November 22, 1931 in Louisa County, the son of John Ward and Dora Mae (Smoke) Wince. He married Millie Macomber in June of 1963. She preceded him in death in December of 1996.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict in the Infantry from 1952 to 1953. He was very proud of his service.
He retired from Northwestern Bell (AT&T) after 31 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and CWA Eastern Iowa Retired members Chapter 70901.
He enjoyed his spring fishing trips to Missouri and fall trips to Wisconsin. “Hope you catch the first fish!”
Survivors include daughter, Cheryl Lewis; son Randy Wince; 5 grandchildren: Carrie Rodriguez (Jr.), Courtney Lewis (Todd Geiger), Ryan Lewis (Heather), Brandy Wince and Adam Wince and 4 great grandchildren; brother, Sam Wince (Dixie) and 2 sisters, Sharon Aide and Genevieve Berry.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death
by his parents, 2 brothers, Raymond Wince and John “Bill” Wince and 2 sisters, Doris Seright and Betty Howard.
