Charles A. “Chuck” Peters, 84, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, followed by a private family service. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.rungemortuary.com.
Chuck was born in Davenport, Iowa, on May 24, 1931, to Arthur and Ella Peters. He graduated from Davenport High School, and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose College. He served in the U.S. Army as a Personnel Management Specialist. Chuck retired after 25 years in sales with GTE-Sylvania Commercial Lighting. Following his retirement, he worked for Industrial Engineering Equipment Company and Vitalink Pharmacy Services.
Chuck loved music, and especially enjoyed the Bix Fest. Throughout high school and college, he played alto saxophone. He went on to play in the Fort Ord, CA Army Band, and also entertained audiences with his talent in local area bands. In addition to his music, Chuck had a special place in his heart for Doberman Pinschers.
Those honoring his memory include his daughters Chriss Smith, Orion, IL, Sheila Peters and Joan (Manny) Ortiz, both of Davenport; grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle) Downing, Ian Smith and Eric Smith; as well as his sisters, Arlene (Dwight) Minkler, and Dorothy Peters ; brother- in- law Tom Maher; nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and a twin sister, Carol Maher.
