Visitation will be held from 3-7pm Friday, January 27, at the Runge Mortuary, followed by a Masonic service at 7pm. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 28, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf. The service will be livestreamed at: http://jesusisthebridge.org under “Worship Live”, select “YouTube.” He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park. Charles was born on February 16, 1932, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Glen and Nina DCamp. He was united in marriage to Ruth "Joyce" MacDonald DCamp on June 27, 1953, in Peoria, Illinois. He earned his BA and MA at the University of Illinois and his PhD from the University of Iowa. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Charles was band director at various high schools, (Watervliet, Michigan, 1957-61; UTHS, 1961-63; Pleasant Valley, 1963-74) and professor of music at St. Ambrose University, 1974-95. He was an active member of the Quad Cities Music Guild, and founder of the Quad City Wind Ensemble. He also played with the CASI and the Bettendorf Park bands, and other regional bands.
Chuck enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, and church choir.
Those left to remember Charles are David (Sheila) Cary, Illinois, Richard (Michelle) Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Paul (Deborah) Riverdale, Iowa, Jon (Kristine) Farmington, Minnesota, daughter-in-law, Ronda DCamp, Moorhead, Minnesota, sister, Dr. Luan (Joe Kovill) DCamp, Sacramento, California, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce, sons James and Douglas, daughter, Catherine DCamp, granddaughter, Sara DCamp; great-grandson, Kyle DCamp, brother, Raymond DCamp, and daughter-in-law, Karen.
