Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:00 at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, with her beloved cousin, Rev. Joel Riley, officiating.
Cathy was born June 5, 1957, in Davenport to William and Margaret (Murray) Collett.
She married Jerry Lee (Pete) Petersen on June 17, 1978 at Newcomb Presbyterian Church.
She graduated from West High School and the Meca Seton Montessori Training Center in
Chicago, Il; followed by a degree, with Honors, from St. Ambrose University in Early Childhood Special Education.
Her broad background in child advocacy culminated in her latest position as the Disability and Mental Health Consultant for four counties with Community Action Of Eastern Iowa.
Cathy considered her greatest life career achievement to be the 19 truly memorable years as a dedicated, Montessori Directress at Montessori House of Children in Davenport. She enjoyed working with parents, and possessed a deep appreciation and love of children in the classroom with her quiet, gentle, respectful, kind spirit. She worked diligently and passionately in providing the children teaching tools to develop into independent learners in her beautifully prepared environment.
She participated often in various activities and sports with her family, including many volunteer opportunities around the Quad Cities with her husband.
Her family and friends appreciated receiving her handcrafted gifts on special occasions. She enjoyed all types of crafts including jewelry making, sewing, baking and shopping with her daughter, Dana. She looked forward to spending time in the kitchen baking with her “Little Cupcake,” Addison Marie.
She gloried in the freedom of the open road with the wind in her hair while riding her Harley with her husband and son Toby.
Cathy is survived and will be deeply missed by her husband, Jerry,(Pete), daughter Dana, son Toby (Ashley) and the joy of her life, Grand daughter, Addison. Her two brothers, Bill Jr. (Ann) Collett. Bob (Karen) Collett, Mother, Margaret Collett and countless loving family and friends and pet poodle, Ziggy,
Her beloved father, William Sr, preceded her in death in 2005.
