Carolyn Sue Swanson, 85, of Davenport, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com.
Carolyn was born on December 19, 1938 in Newton, IA to Lenard and Zella (Woods) Kane. Her family relocated to Bettendorf in 1940. She graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1958. Carolyn was united in marriage to Wayne K Swanson on May 20, 1961. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2004. Carolyn worked for Peterson Harned Von Maur and Kmart Corporation for 29 years. She retired in 1995. She was in a swimming cardiac rehab class at the YMCA for over 25 years and also was a member of the same card club group for over 42 years. Carolyn loved her family, reading a good book, cooking great meals for her family, gardening, loved her Iowa Hawkeyes. She also enjoyed collecting holiday Barbie’s.
Survivors include her children, Jeffrey (Chris) Swanson of Buffalo, IA, Christine Jordan, Catherine Swanson and Caryn Swanson all of Davenport; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew, Brigham, Bryce, Stephanie, Miranda, Sarah; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Connie (Charlie) Fleetwood of Bettendorf, IA, and Verna Goddard of Escondido, CA.; half siblings, Jack Harper of Escondido, CA, Betty Honeycutt of QCA and Richard Kane of QCA; sisters-in-law Sherine Kane and Mur Anderson and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, extended family and numerous friends and neighbors that she made throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and son, Gary Swanson, Brother, Bill Kane, Larry Kane, Marvin Kane and Dan Kane.
