Carl Robert Block, 91, of Davenport passed away Friday, February 16, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, February 22, 2018 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family. Online tributes may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Carl was born on March 14, 1926 in Davenport, the son of Carl and Frieda (Bauman) Block. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Buri on June 19, 1948. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on December 25, 2011. Carl was a very hard working man. He was employed at CASE, Davenport before he was drafted by the United States Army. He served in the military from 1944-1946. After his service he worked for B&D Construction Co. and was contracted with the United States Postal Service. He was also a volunteer with the Green Acres Fire Department. Carl retired from Builders Redi Mix in 1992 after 45 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially to Branson. He enjoyed working in his yard, NASCAR, listening to Country and Polka music, and playing Eucher at CASI. Those left to honor his memory include son, Robert (Sarah) Block, daughter, Debbie (Derrik) Bolton, “special daughter” Dietta (Vern) Langtimm, grandchildren, Kim (Randy) Morris, Kelly Keel, Emily (Clark) Butler, Jacob Bolton (Liz), “special granddaughter” Shia (Tony) Cruciani, great grandchildren Gage and Gannon Morris and Nola and Delaney Butler, and brother William Volkman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Tootie Cooper and Betty Maxwell.
