Bobby J. Kem, 70, of Davenport passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at New Life Baptist Church, 7780 West Locust Street in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday and from 9-10 am Wednesday, both at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Life Baptist Church. Mr. Kem was born December 8, 1941 in Metropolis, Illinois, a son of Richard and Bessie (Clubb) Kem. He was employed as a machinist with Alcoa for thirty-nine years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of New Life Baptist Church, which he assisted in building. His hobbies included collecting International Harvester tractors and gardening. He had the ability to build anything and was always glad to lend a helping hand to those in need. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Carline; children and spouses: Chuck and Pam Kem of Colorado, Bobby and Jennifer Kem of Davenport, Joseph and Felicia Kem of Oklahoma, and Richard and Lori Kem of Alabama; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three sisters: Virginia, Rolla, and Janet.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
