On Friday, January 5, 2024, Blane Mitchell McCabe passed away at the age of 30 after a car accident. Blane was born on April 27, 1993, to Cindy Coffman (Steve Sparbel) and Randy McCabe (Minerva), the youngest of three siblings. Blane was an independent, quiet, and kind young man. He looked at the world with genuine curiosity and joy. When he was a child, his great-grandparents indulged his unexpected requests. Blane would take apart their vacuum or VCR and put them back together, to their amusement, with only a few screws left over. As he grew, he learned, alongside his dad, how to work on and ride BMX bikes and motorcycles. His joy as an adult was the electric bike he built, often choosing to ride his bike instead of driving his car. He tackled life with bravery and resilience and was always ready to have a good time. Blane attended Davenport West High School and worked at Wendy's. His siblings Brooke (Jake Jochim) Basye, Ashly McCabe, and Athena Dihn remember him for the joy he brought to his family and the comfort of spending time together.
His maternal grandparents, Gean and Joyce Coffman, his great-grandparents, Mabel and Ivan Raney, and his Uncles, Brant and Bradley Coffman, preceded him in death.
Blane leaves a legacy of genuine embrace for a life lived on his terms. He will be remembered by his parents, sisters, grandparents, Larry and Margaret McCabe; Uncle Ricky McCabe; Aunts, Jennifer Coffman and Tammy Krana; Cousins, Madeline McCabe, and Kayla Krana; and his nephews, Liam Kraklio, Griffin King, and Oliver King.
A visitation to celebrate the life of Blane Mitchell McCabe will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 4-7 pm at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport, Iowa.
