

Beverly Viola Mae Smith, 94, of Davenport, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the home of JD and Marian Carter. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Davenport Memorial Park All Vets Memorial in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Beverly was born October 24, 1919 in Union County, OH; as one of ten children of Joseph and Frances (Seaman) Doyle. She served in the Naval Air Corps Waves as a mechanic and Crew Chief during WWII, stationed in Ottumwa, IA. Beverly was united in marriage to Raymond Smith, he preceded her in death. Her memberships included the American Legion, Order of Eastern Star in New York, the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps and she had won many awards for her service. She also participated in the VA Senior Olympics. Beverly was employed as an Administrator at the VA Northport Hospital in Long Island, NY until her retirement. She is survived by sisters: Marian (and her husband, J.D.) Carter, Davenport and Mary Elizabeth Spiegel, Roseville, IL; numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Nettie Doyle, Tampa, Florida.
