Bertha Evelyn Swanson

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. She will be laid to rest in Rural 16 Cemetery.

Bertha Evelyn Schlitter was born on December 11, 1922 in rural Allamakee, IA to Otto and Pearl (Cahoon) Schlitter. On February 14, 1952 she was united in marriage to Chester Swanson at the Edgington Presbyterian Church in Taylor Ridge, IL. Bertha enjoyed sewing, bingo, cooking, baking, fishing, listening to country music, and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.

Bertha will be deeply missed by two sons, Tim Swanson of Davenport, IA and Alan Swanson of Muscatine, IA; one grandson, Matthew Swanson of Muscatine, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; parents, Otto and Pearl; brothers: Harold, Ray, Leo, Fritz and Henry; sisters: Carrie, Agnes, Hazel, Dorothy, Lena and Laura; grandson, Nathan Swanson; and daughter-in-law, Laurie.
