Bernice Mae Meyer

Bernice Mae Meyer, 90, of Davenport, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Crest Health Care in Davenport. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:00 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 am until the service.

Bernice was born May 4, 1920 in Davenport, the daughter of Robert and Inez (Kraklio) Claussen. She was united in marriage to Harold H. Meyer on December 15, 1938 in Davenport; he preceded her in death on July 8, 1992. She was a fifty year member of the Davenport Pythian Sisters and a member of the Golden Anniversary Club. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, sewing, crocheting, playing cards and cooking.

Bernice along with her husband farmed near Maysville for thirty-one years and then retired and moved to northwest Davenport.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Lynn (Tom) Roman, Prophetstown, IL; Duane (Bernice), DeWitt; Eugene, Walcott; Ronald (Nancy), Eldridge; Jerry (Vicki), Davenport; daughter-in-law, Judy Meyer, Bettendorf; 17 grandchildren, 27great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a brother, LeRoy (Ruby) Claussen, Bettendorf.

Her parents, sons, Kenneth & James; grandsons, Kirby and Lance; four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
