Anna F. Derrick

Anna Frances Derrick, 90, of Davenport passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at Genesis East. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport. Visitation will be three hours prior to service. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Anna Frances was born August 2, 1927 in Huntsville, MO. She was united in marriage to David Kenneth Derrick on December 24, 1947 in Moline, IL. He preceded her in death February 2, 1984. From that union seven children were born. Anna Frances dedicated her life to the Lord at a young age. She persevered through many storms. Her greatest joy in life was her family! She was a loving, selfless, kind, giving, gentle, understanding, funny, generous, inspiring, strong, tolerant, patient and courageous lady. She was a wise wonderful woman who was a mother and mentor to so many people throughout her life! She was loved by and will be missed by all those whose lives she blessed with her unconditional love and acceptance!Anna Frances worked as a health care provider at Genesis West as a nurse’s aid and later as a nursing unit secretary. She retired from Mercy Hospital in 1990. To this day we meet people that she worked with and they always comment as to how kind and sweet she was. Her biggest enjoyment was cooking for her family. She especially loved spending time with all of her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Louise (Melvin) McNeal, Thurble (Cindy) Derrick, Oneta (Leo) Anderson, Thelma Derrick, Kenneth (Linda) Derrick, Frank Derrick; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; two nieces, Beverly Evans and Linda Humphrey and nephew, George Humphrey, who were very dear to her; a special cousin, Joan Pryor and a host of family and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, David Derrick; parents, George and Susie Humphrey; infant son, David Kenneth, Jr; sister, Oneta and brother, George (Buck).
