Alfredo “Al” Villarreal Jr., 54 of Davenport passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 also at the Weerts Funeral Home. Al was born on April 13, 1969 in Moline, IL to Alfredo and Martina (Ramirez) Villarreal. He proudly served in the United States Navy, retiring after 20 years of service. He was united in marriage to Trudy Arp on November 4, 2000 in Long Grove, IA. Al worked as a Cost Price Analyst for the U.S. Department of the Army at the Rock Island Arsenal. He earned his bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Ashford University. Al loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Nugget. Al was always there for a laugh or a helping hand. You could always count on him to organize incredible events with great food and drink, creating amazing memories.
He was a Chicago Bears fan who also loved cheering on his harness racing horses. Passionate for music, he played the drums and volunteered for the Davenport Central Marching Band.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Trudy; children, Mariah (Ruben) Villarreal, Alexia (Garret) Villarreal and Gabriel Villarreal; granddaughters, Ivy, Ina and one on the way; brother, Eduardo Villarreal; stepfather, John Wassenhove and nephew, Michael McKinney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Angelica McKinney; grandmother, Mary Ramirez and grandfather, Louis Ramirez.
