As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy for your loss.  I met Terry through the Swan family when I moved to Kentville in 1978 and he was great, a kind, caring person who was a lot of fun to spend time with.  I pray that you will come to find comfort in the wonderful memories that you have of him.

My sympathy and condolences to Jessica, Jaime, Karen and family on the passing of a true community leader and man who cared deeply for his family and friends. He gave so much but seldom asked for anything in return. His dedication is something that was never given the credit due but Terry was a man that didn't need or want to be in the limelight. 

I have many fond memories of Terry, memories that I will cherish forever. We worked together as Scouters, with the Halifax Regional Police (HRP) Youth Program, the HRP Community Support Team and HRP as well. Pictures can never capture and do justice to the laughs and good times we had. Pictures also can't capture that twinkle in his eye when he was about to or had just played a practical joke on someone......then came that guilty smirk that would give him away. Always up for a song or a skit.....you never knew what he might do next, always keeping you on your toes!

May the memories of the past, live long into the future......you will be missed but the impact you havemade on so many lives will live on!

I rememember fondly "Standing camp 1988" which I attended as a new Scout leader (Skipper-in-training) And both you and your husband were there and I gained valuable lessons as a scout leader. We are so sorry to hear this sad news. We've kept up a bit with Terry's career over the years through a mutual friend. You must all be very proud of the great role model he grew to be. I know we haven't seen either of you for 30 years but you both have frequently been in our thoughts as we've reminisced old memories of scouting and weddings and mysterious floating thingies in the hot chocolate on a cold March day at the cottage.
We'll always remember his gentle smiles.

My dear nephew Terry had the potential not only to create a happy life for himself but also to help other beings. This young man grew up in an atmosphere of human affection which has had a positive and gentle influence on his daughter, Jessica and his son, James and his grandchildren Abigail and Sophie.  Terry had a natural creative ability, was a prankster, educator and the most honorable man.  He would want us all to celebrate his life and not focus on his death and so we shall. We were sorry to read that Terry had passed away and want to express our sympathy to the family.

We knew Terry as the Scoutmaster of the 43rd Halifax troop at St. John's United Church when our boys were involved with Scouts and Cubs there.
He made a great contribution and the boys benefitted tremendously from his leadership.  He had a knack of getting them excited about scouting and the troop grew markedly.  He and Karen encouraged several of the boys to continue their involvement after they outgrew the Troop.  It was while he was there that the Beavers were started for the younger children, and Terry helped find the perfect leader for that group

We remember how he got them involved with the typical camping and volunteering activities that Scouts typically do, but he also made sure that on Baden Powell Sunday they participated in the service with a parade, and on several occasions conducted the whole service.

 Terry often dropped by our house  because of Group Committee matters that had to be dealt with, and the constant arrival of a police car outside our house created a stir among our neighbours  until they got used to it.  We remember one time when he came by we had just had a meal of "salt cod and pork scraps" and he helped finish it off saying it was a favourite meal from when he was younger.

It is gratifying to read that he was still involved with Scouting, and that movement will surely miss him. Even with his difficult health problems he continued to make a contribution.  You all must be very proud of him.

Terry was a great influence in the community where I grew up, and an all around kind person. Rest in peace Terry, you will be kept alive through the amazing work you have done and your family.

Although I only knew Terry a few years, he still impressed me beyond words with his dedication and professionalism to the scouting movement.  Terry was in my store a few hours before his final moment. I wished I could have taken the time to tell him how much he meant to me.  Terry, it still seems so unreal you have left us.  You will be missed and I am certain your legacy will go on, honouring all that you represented.  Farewell my friend!
