Dear Ashley and family. I want to offer my deepest sympathy to you. I can only imagine how hard it must be to lose your mother at this stage of your life. Your mother was so loving and supportive to Rachel and Erica and we are very grateful for that. I was always so appreciative of the love and care your gave to Carolyn and her family. I had the pleasure of working with Sharon at A. J. Smeltzer Jr High.  She became a wonderful friend.  I so remember the days that she would come into my office and we would both brag about our children and grandchildren.  She was so very proud of her family and so interested to hear about mine.  We had many happy times in school before our retirement and many good times after as we shared pictures of our grandchildren while we ate a good meal and talked and talked and talked.  She had such a great ability to listen and make everyone feel special.  We will all miss this wonderful lady.  What a blessing to have known her.

Mrs. Davis had the sweetest singing voice and her personality sang to all of us who loved music and dance. Always a kind word and a nod of affirmation when needed. Her love of music helped mine grow. My sympathies to the whole family.

Dear Bob, Jason, Jarrett and Ashley,

None of you know me, but I felt compelled to add my condolences for your loss. 

Many years ago, Sharon taught me music at Prince Arthur Junior High School. She was a wonderful teacher who encouraged a very shy, self-conscious and awkward teen to audition for a new Dartmouth-wide girls choir. Without her, I never would have imagined that I could be part of something so amazing. Somehow she saw something in me that I didn't, and gave me the conviction I needed to make that leap of faith. With her guidance, I made the choir and it instilled a lifelong love of being part of vocal music ensembles.

I also knew Sharon through St. James United, where this same teen was a member of the congregation. I remember when I first heard her sing “Oh Holy Night” at one of the Christmas Carol Services. I was simply awestruck! I have never heard anyone sing that song as well as she could; I doubt I ever will. Every Christmas since then, when I hear that carol, I think, “well, that's a nice rendition, but Mrs. Davis's was MUCH better.” 

I know you must feel great pain right now, so soon after her passing, but please try and take some comfort in knowing that Sharon touched thousands of lives along the way and will be remembered by many. I am one of them.

I taught school with Sharon at A.J.Smeltzer Jr. High.I just loved her kind heart and  her uplifting personality. She was a real gem. Deepest sympathy to Sharon's family. The angels in Heaven now have a new choir leader.

Mrs Davis was one of my favorite teachers throughout my school career. I was lucky enough to be on the Ellenvale dance team in ninth grade, and I adored her. She will be missed, I am so sorry for your loss I will always remember her smile and enthusiasm in everything she did.

Jason and family, It is so sad to know that you and the rest of this world will not be able to see and feel the smiles and love that Sharon gave.   I knew your Mom since our school days and oddly enough you and one of my daughters were in school together also.   During Tattoo time I always looked for your Mom so we could catch up on our lives. I don't remember how many of our kids Sharon taught but I know she taught Heather at Ellenvale Junior High and Heather loved her.  She told me Mrs. Davis always built you up, and never put you down.  That is a wonderful gift every teacher should possess. Mrs. Davis was so positive and enthusiastic and talented.   As parents we loved to have visits with her.

Dear Bob, Ashley and family,

I was very saddened to hear of Sharon's passing. She was my music teacher in Junior High and considered one of the 'cool' teachers :). I loved her class-she made the class interesting by creating choreographed dances and choir pieces with the current songs of the day. Little did I know I would cross paths with her as the years rolled on in Fall River Pharmacy, the VON and then the VG with her caring for her mom and Bob.  She pragmatically took what the day brought with gentle humor and wisdom. I'm so sorry to hear that  such a great lady was taken so young; my heartfelt sympathies to you all.

I have many fond memories of my time on the Ellenvale dance team in junior high school with Mrs. Davis. I loved listening to her sing in the St. James choir as well. She was a wonderful teacher and beautiful person.

Heartfelt condolences on the loss of a truly amazing lady.  I attended Ellenvale and was fortunate to have Mrs. Davis as a music teacher.  I was also a member of the choir & dance team.  Those dances and songs we learned never leave me.  Mrs. Davis made learning fun and you could tell that she truly loved to teach.  I wish the world had more teachers like her.

I am very saddened to hear of Mrs. Davis's passing.  I will echo the sentiments of all of the previous commenters by saying that she was one of my favorite teachers- she truly cared about her students and you knew that she loved being a teacher.  I have thought of her often over the years and it wasn't that long ago (4 years perhaps) that I saw her and she immediately remembered me and we had a great chat.  I don't know many teachers who would remember their students 20 years after last having them in their classroom.  She was a remarkable lady. So very saddened to read of Sharon's passing. We were friends in high school and sang together as "The Children of Tomorrow" folk group and a few coffee houses too. What a beautiful voice was Sharaon's. It was a pleasure to be able to sing with her. I will always remember her lovely laughter, full of joy yet hearty. At her wedding too. The photo of our group on this site was quite a surprise--my, my we were so young. Sharon was so sweet to me that day that we won the award; -my great aunt had just died and I was very emotional but Sharon kept me strong and focused enough to sing well for the group and win. What a gift she has left her family--obviously there was lots of love and strength there. Memories of that nature are to be treasured. My sincere condolances to Bob and all.

I, too, had Mrs. Davis at Ellenvale Junior High. By pure luck, I was in grade seven when the dance team began and just by signing my name got on the team. I never would have made it otherwise. What a super experience that was! I have read all of the previous student entries and you have all said it so well. Memories of choir and the songs we learned - they'll never leave me. Mrs. Davis was truly one of the greats! I am so sorry for your loss and your pain - so many things are unfair. Please know that her influence will be appreciated for years.

To the Davis Family....I am so sorry for your loss. As a former and very proud student of "Mrs D" I was very saddened to hear of the loss of a great lady, teacher and mentor to many! She always made me smile, whether it was when I was dancing or singing...and oh how fun she made those music classes. I can hear her singing in the halls of Ellenvale as I type. Mrs. Davis was a wonderful, inspiring teacher who gave so much of her time selflessly.  I was lucky enough to have her as a teacher for music, choir and dance for 3 years at Ellenvale.  She was a part of so many of my junior high memories.  I am thankful to have been one of her many students!  My thoughts and prayers are with the Davis family.

So sorry to read this today.  "Mrs. Davis" was one of my favorite teachers.  I am grateful for her life and her teaching.  My memories of being on the dance team at Ellenvale Jr High are some of my fondest childhood ones!  She will have the angels choreographed in no time :)

I was so saddened to hear of the loss of one of my favourite teachers of all time. I had her at Ellenvale Jr High and had the fortune of being on her dance team and getting to know her out of school as well. 

She was such an amazing teacher and always came to class with smile and a purpose. She showed interest in not only our school lives but our personal ones and took the time to make everyone feel special. And to get a class of junior high kids to take an interest in music takes a very special person indeed. 

I am so very sorry for your loss. She touched so many of our lives and will be missed by all those who had the fortune of knowing her.

I attended Ellenvale Jr. High from 85-89 and I was one of the lucky ones; to have been given the opportunity to have Mrs. Davis for a teacher. She always provided encouragement and support to all her students. She was kind and very giving… she always had time to listen to her students. She was a gifted music teacher and a genuine asset to the teaching profession. She was my favorite!

Mrs. Davis shared her passion for music and dance with great joy, and left an indelible mark on those of us who were fortunate enough to have had her as a teacher. To say that being the only boy on the Ellenvale Junior High Dance Team was a defining moment for me, would be an understatement. I'm so sorry for your loss, Davis family. I grew up with Jarrett, he was one of my best friends all the way through school, and we were of course in band together! I went to school at Eric graves and there was this beautiful music teacher that I loved very much. She taught me to dance in classes two mornings a week and told me I was a great singer. She was a great lady who I will miss very much. She gave me more confidence in the two years she taught me than most other people since. I tried to get back to my "younger days schools" to see her a decade a go, but couldn't find her. Mrs. Davis has always been engraved on my heart and I thought of this wonderful Lady very often.
