Tribute to Bob
My brother-in-law Bob will always be remembered. I want to thank him for all the special things he did for our family, his caring ways, and his patience and kindness. Thanks for being a wonderful brother-in-law.

Last Visit
My memory of my brother-in-law will always be a beautiful spring day when I came to visit with Bob… we started our visit with a McFlurry, “any good day starts with ice cream”, Bob said. 
We ate it on the deck followed by tea and Nanaimo bars…it was a beautiful visit….

Train Wreck
Bob liked metaphors, he would refer to “the train-of-life” and that his train was derailed. He described it as a train wreck!
 It is indeed true that life and train journeys are a lot alike. And Bob was forever, trying to reach his destination. Determined in his journey. 
What impressed me the most, about Bob’s ride, was the in-between times, when there was sadness and disappointment. 
Many times the train took Bob to the wrong place but this didn’t discouraged him, instead, he jumped back on and found the rhythm of that train. 
Many times the hardship was too much to bear and yet Bob stayed aboard, derailing often, getting back aboard and forging ahead. 

Many times we would with witness the love between Darlyn and Bob, a simple glance that confirmed to each of them, that their trains were on a different track, headed in another direction. At those times they would embrace! 

Many times  there would be changes in route, there were accidents as well, but Bob was determined to remain optimistic.

We should all strive to make the most of our ride and make the most of his ride, he certainly did!So we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who you are. It’s important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our empty seat, we should leave behind beautiful memories For those who continue to travel on the train of life. Bob wishes you all a joyful journey and thanks for being one of his passengers.

I am very saddened by Bob’s passing and would like to send my heartfelt sympathy to the Hardy family. I am proud to have called Bob a friend and am thankful to have worked for and alongside him during his tenure at IMP. Bob took me under his wing and in his own special way, offered mentoring, support and guidance, sharing life lessons and experiences that only he could provide. I will miss the struggles in trying to improve his golf swing but mostly I will miss our conversations. I am honored to have known him, he will be missed.

I was very sorry to hear of Bob’s passing.  I knew Bob through playing pickleball at Brentwood Community Centre.  Bob was a very good pickleball player and I always enjoyed chatting with him between games.   I am sure he will be missed by many.  

I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I met Bob for the first time at our hand over parade in Shearwater and had the pleasure of working with him while at MAGHQ. A more capable dedicated professional Officer would be hard to find.

To Bob’s family, 

It was with the deepest of sympathy that I learned of Bob’s passing.  He was such a strong, positive force that influenced so many people; he will be dearly missed.  I have such fond memories of Bob.  He was universally known as a true a gentleman, exceptionally intelligent, and an extremely hard worker.  He was inspirational to us junior Aerospace Engineers serving with the Sea King fleet in the ‘80s and 90’s.  While deployed on the other side of the world with the Canadian Naval Task Group during the First Gulf War, connected back to Shearwater via a long and tenuous supply line; Bob worked magic to ensure that the forward deployed embarked helicopters were extremely well supported.  As we sailed the Arabian (Persian) Gulf, we were comforted and confident knowing that Bob was always in our corner, even when it made things difficult for himself and the operations that continued back home – that was the type of guy he was.

I was sorry to read of Bob's passing in the Victoria paper.  Bob, Russ and I spent 4 years together at Military College and although that was a "few" years ago , the bonds developed still have a special place in my heart.

Bob and I served in the RCAF together. He was highly regarded as a gentleman and a very bright mind. After his time in the service, we did business together while he was at IMP. I want to express my condolences for your loss. I worked with Bob at IMP prior to his retirement as well as recently when he came back to help with a proposal in 2019. I learned so much from him both years ago and recently. He has bestowed so much of his wisdom on me, things I do today are because of his sage advice. He will be missed.
