On March 29, 2016 Ray passed away peacefully while surrounded by his children and grandchildren at the age of 83 years. He would not have wanted it any other way. He had a life long love of sports, a competitive streak and the never give up attitude that allowed him to excel in hockey and football, from his early days at College Street School, through to varsity sports at Saint Mary’s and Dalhousie. Ray was a true salesman, blessed with the gift of gab. Going to bat for a client or anyone that needed his help was second nature to him. His true love and passion was his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Walton “Bun” and Rose Craig; sisters, Yvonne Samson and Lorraine Craig. He is survived by his children, Don (Sue) of Moncton, Peter (Donna Gallant) of Dartmouth, David (Lisa) of Dartmouth, Paul, Kentville and Lori (Marc LeBlanc) of Cole Harbour and their mother, Kathryn Craig of Dartmouth. Ray is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Victoria, Lindsay (and their mother Joanne Craig), Kate, Keegan; Carson, Walton; Amanda, Mitchell; Aaron, Tyler, Coady (and their mother Alanna Craig), Craig, Luc and Grace. Ray also was blessed with a great granddaughter, Molly and a great grandson about to be born, Wyatt. Ray was a long time member of Brightwood Golf Club, where he enjoyed the golf, comraderie and a spirited game of crib. In his later years, he would join his buddies for morning coffee sessions at McDonalds, solving most of the world’s problems at the same time. Ray was never shy about having an opinion, or hesitant to share it with others. He will be warmly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth, from 6-9 PM. Service to take place Thursday April 7 at 1200 noon at St. Peter’s Church, Dartmouth. A funeral service with interment of ashes in Ray’s birthplace, Louisdale, N.S. will be held at St. Louis Parish at 1045 AM on Monday, April 18. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to KidSport Nova Scotia. Online Condolences may be sent to www.mattatallfuneralhome.com
