We are saddened to announce the death of Pauline Florence Howe, 89, of Kentville, NS, who passed away peacefully on September 26, 2022 at Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Kentville, NS on July 23, 1933, she was the youngest daughter of the late Albert and Lavinia May (Keddy) Lockwood. Some family members sought fit to nickname her “Paulie”. She was an honour graduate of Mack Business College and worked at Camp Aldershot. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker and mother. She remained faithful to the Lord throughout her life, reading the Bible without fail every day. She was a member of the Church of England then the United Church upon marriage.
She enjoyed cruising in her 1990 red Chevy Baretta. Once she stopped driving, she enjoyed going on scenic family drives, especially to the South Shore and Cape Breton, and trips to visit family in Ontario. Her love for music was unquestionable. She sang soprano, played the piano and her little electric organ. She kept fit by dancing (an Irish jig was preferred), walking, biking, skating and lifting light weights, even into her 80’s. Her signature fitness move was kicking one of her legs up in the air! She loved animals and respected nature.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan, Dartmouth, son Larry, Ottawa, brother Lloyd (Mary) Lockwood, Berwick, and grandson Christopher, Ottawa; nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Melissa, Paula, Harold, Linda, Barb and Lorne.
She was predeceased by brothers Bill and Art, sister Edith (Henshaw) and husband, Charlie.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Celebration will be held in the Annapolis Valley at a later date.
Donations made to the charity of your choice in Pauline’s name would be greatly appreciated.
A special thanks to those who walked with, talked with, laughed with, sang with and cared for her during her stay at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
