His honesty, bright and happy energy along with his loyalty made everyone who knew him, love him. He was skilled in his craft of masonry and had a passion and love of music. Together with Jessica they built a beautiful life of love, laughs and food moving from Calgary to Nova Scotia.
He took great pride in his work and often pointed at buildings and projects he had a hand in creating. He admired skilled craftsmanship and gazed at brick and stone work as he travelled throughout Canada. He was very technically proficient and picked up new skills with ease. He loved a challenge. His truck and tools he accumulated were important to him as he succeeded in building his small private business awaiting the day he could again, go out on his own. His golf game was improving and he was adept at frisbee golf. He loved the outdoors and was learning to paddle a canoe. He loved to walk in the woods and trails hand in hand with Jesse. His backyard bonfires also brought him great joy, especially when it included Christmas trees. He enjoyed the culinary arts and could prepare and cook anything. He was quick to barbeque and was always the first to clean up, even the pots and pans. He loved his nephews and niece dearly and could entertain them for hours. He also spent long hours at the euchre table delighting in teasing his partner as well as the opposition when the cards came his way. His love of comedy helped all to find the lighter side. He even continued to support his beloved Bengals despite their last few seasons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by the love of his life Jessica Salmon, his wife.
He will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by his mother Gail Wood, step father Craig Wood, brother Justin, his wife Prairie, nephew Jack, the Daye families, the Garbett family and the deBoer family. It must noted that Mike had fond and happy memories of his Grandma Rose.
It is important to mention his best friend, Andres, and the Changanaqui family as they played a significant role in his life and their support was much appreciated.
His Nova Scotia family accepted him readily, and will never fill the place he held in their hearts. Gail and Jim Salmon and family, Nathan, Margo, Rowan and Marlee, Kathy (Mike), Ted (Lucy), Bob (Marleen), Pat (Terry), Chris (Natalie), Jamie (Hannah), Owen, Tessah, Josh (Marsha), Dylan (Katrina), Coby, Tracey and his two adorable cats, Soda and Zombie.
