ERNST, Maxwell Leroy Sr. — 99 years old, of Courtney Road, Dartmouth, passed away May 19, 2010, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Maxwell was born in Torbrook in 1911. Maxwell was a Merchant Marine for many years. He was also storesman for the Halifax Shipyards. He was predeceased by his wife, Viola (Penny) Ernst; parents, Wilfred and Eva (Lohnes) Ernst; brothers, Warren and Allison and sister, Winny. Survived by his sons, Max and Ruby (Schofield) Ernst Jr., of Dartmouth; Quentin and Dora (Keeping) Ernst of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Barbara, Colin, Laura Lee, Amy; great-grand children, Melissa, Trista, Steven, Amanda, Jessica, Erica, Brooklynn, Jada, Jason, Kayla, Tara, and Taylor; great great-grandchildren, Nataya, Saige, Alli, Logan. He will be missed by his dog, Tiny. Friends may visit with the family in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Sunday, May 23, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where funeral service will be held Monday, May 24, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sackville.
