Mary Patricia MacMillan

Age 88, passed peacefully surrounded by family, with Don as always by her side on June 22, 2017 in Ocean View Manor. She was a daughter of the late Gerald and Jean Matheison. Survived by husband of 64 years, Don; children, Ann Gay (Bob Christie), Susan Duann (Michael) and Bruce (Kathy); grandchildren, Andrew, James, Colin, Emily, Neal (Korri) and Katherine (Michael Smith); great-grandchildren, Finn and Elli; long-time friend, Audrey Hesson; dog and special companion, Mika. Mary graduated as an associate of the NS College of Art, where she met her husband, Don and her friend, Audrey. She worked at NS Power before starting her family and in later years she worked for the bank of Nova Scotia. Mary and Don built their own home and were active volunteers, working for many years with youth and taught safe boating courses with the Power Squadron. Mary loved knitting, embroidery, tole painting, sailing and traveling. She was a life member of the Dartmouth Yacht Club. Special thanks to Marilyn MacMullin and also the staff of Ocean View Manor for their care and compassion. In accordance with Mary’s wishes a private family celebration will be held.
