Laurence (Glenn), Mary Catherine-93, of Dartmouth passed away in Glasgow Hall on September 5, 2014. Born in Tatamagouche (French River), NS on March 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James and Helena (Bonyman) Glenn. Mary was a graduate of the Normal College in Truro and taught in various schools around Nova Scotia for 11 years. Following her marriage to her husband, Geoff, she operated a nursery school for almost 20 years. She also worked at Dr. Sun’s medical office and at Moffat’s Pharmacy on Pleasant Street. Mary was an accomplished seamstress, she also enjoyed knitting, and crocheting and she created many beautiful pieces of needlepoint. Mary took great pride in her children and their accomplishments. She is survived by her children, Geoffrey, Dartmouth and Gwen Martin, Halifax; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Geoffrey; brothers, Lawrence and William “Willie”; sister, Ethel Perkins; nephews, Martin Glenn and James G. Perkins.
Visitation will take place on Thursday September 11 from 6-8pm and memorial service will be 2pm Saturday September 13, both in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Rev. Krista Anderson from Grace United Church will be officiating. Family flowers only. Charitable donations in memory of Mary may be made to a charity of choice.
