Age 92, Dartmouth, passed away on March, 23, 2022 in the QEII Halifax Infirmary. She was born in Dartmouth, N.S. on June 15, 1929 to the late George E.(Ted) Hutchinson and Laura (Dauphinee)(Hutchinson)Morash.
Marj is survived by her son David, Seattle, W.A.; daughters Marilyn (Terry) Boutilier, Hackett's Cove, Barbara Adams (Mel Lucas), Eastern Passage; daughter-in-law, Carrie Hare, Utah, beloved grandsons Bryan(Lindsay) and Scott(Krystal) Boutilier, John and Chris(Elise) Lavoie, Michael and Patrick Hare and precious great-grandson Spencer Boutilier(Scott & Krystal); special granddaughters Joanie(Yan & Zina) Wolkoff and Laura(Colin, Charlotte & Lauchlan)Kaiser. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara MacKenzie, Dartmouth; sisters-in-law, Shirley Hutchinson, Dartmouth and Donna Tanton, Sarnia, ON; companion David Murray, as well as several nieces and nephews. Marj was predeceased by her husband, John G. (Jack) Hare, brother, Alan Hutchinson, brothers-in-law Ken MacKenzie, Freeman & Paul Hare, sisters–in-law Mary Hession, Marie & Evelyn Hare, step-father Wilfred Morash and nephews Ted Hutchinson & Peter Hare.
Marj had a countless number of friends, in particular those she met through the Dartmouth Curling Club, of which she was a life member. She was also a life member of the former Maid Marian Chapter of the I.O.D.E. Marj continued to attend annual Keltic Lodge reunions with former co-workers from 65+ years ago until the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Over the years Marj spent many summers at her cottage in Hackett's Cove, near her mom, aunts, uncles and several cousins…it was her Happy Place. Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family & friends but she will live on in our hearts FOREVER.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her bridge club, Kathy, Marion, Mary, Shelia, Jacquie, Joyce, Barb & Susan for giving mom a social life, keeping her entertained and making sure she got where she needed to be. We would also like to thank the staff(former & current) of the Berkeley Dartmouth for their love, care and kindness shown to Mom during the last 18 ½ years, especially Cassie, Gloria(mom loved your suppers), Heather, Jenny, Katrina Lynn, Kelly, Laura, Leanne, Rizza, Sally, Stella, Suzanne, Amber, Alex, Colleen, Debbie, Hayleigh, Joanne & Ruby.
The family would also like to thank the EHS paramedics, the doctors, nurses & staff of the Cobequid Community Health Centre and the emergency and floor 8.1 of the QEII Halifax Infirmary for the care and compassion shown to mom during her time in hospital.
In keeping with Marj’s wishes there will be a private committal service following cremation. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1st, from 6-8 p.m. in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Bonnie Baird and assisted by Rev. Canon Dr. Jody Clarke will be held on Saturday April 2nd at 11 a.m. in Christ Church, 50 Wentworth Street, Dartmouth of which she was a lifelong member serving in the choir and as a Sunday school teacher, reception to follow in the church hall. Masks are required for those attending the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
