HUSSEY, Marie – of, Dartmouth. It is with heartfelt sadness and wonderful memories that we announce the sudden passing of Marie, age 80, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend on Wednesday December 22, 2021 at the Dartmouth General Hospital with her daughter Janice and Jeff at her side. Born in North Sydney on October 31, 1941. Marie was the only child of the late Mary (Taylor) and Daniel Jackson. Marie was a life-long and well-known resident of North Sydney where she met and married her husband of 56 years, David Hussey, and raised their four children. Marie was a devoted mother who supported her children in their many activities. She volunteered for countless auxiliaries, committee’s, planning groups and fundraisers. She never missed a game, practice or event and was always in the audience cheering. She encouraged her children to follow their dreams even when that took them far from home. Marie was a 20-year employee of the former Zellers Department Store in North Sydney where her social spirit thrived. She made many great friends and fond memories during those years. Marie was a kind and fun-loving person with bright blue eyes who loved to laugh and had a natural gift for making friends. She has been blessed to have very special life-long friends who have been with her through thick and thin and were like the “siblings she always wanted”. Although she remained a proud “Caper”, her move to Dartmouth, provided her with the opportunity to develop another circle of wonderful and supportive friends. She shared with them her passion and skill for 45’s card games and her uncanny ability to “have the winning ticket”. Those were such fun times for her. Marie had a nurturing and compassionate spirit towards animals and was always rescuing, feeding or caring for a little creature in need. She was a former member of the St Matthew Wesley United Church and the Dartmouth Seniors Club. Marie will be deeply missed by her daughter Janice (Jeff), Dartmouth, with whom she shared a special bond and her three sons David (Ella), Los Angeles, Blair (Stephanie) Switzerland and Glenn (Julie) Las Vegas. Although her sons were at a distance, they were always close in her heart. She loved her special daily “drive to work” calls from her son David. Marie was especially proud of her grandchildren Shan, Cass, Collette and Harlow. She maintained fond memories of her in-laws Catherine and Robert Seaward and her niece Kerri-Lynn Carpenter and nephew Craig Seaward. She also enjoyed communication with her maternal cousins in Dartmouth. She is predeceased by her husband David Hussey. A special thank you to Dr. Peter Lee for the care and compassion provided over the past 9 years. Although there will be no formal visitation at this time, the family would greatly appreciate those who knew Marie to take a moment to say a prayer or reflect on a fond memory in honor of her ever-loving spirit in Heaven.
