1920 – 2016
Born in 1920 to Lillian B. Davis and Harold C. Carson of Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick, died on February 11, 2016 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Peg completed her schooling in Fredericton Junction and pursued nurses’ training in Montreal. In 1942, she married Lloyd Raymond Martin, of Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. Over the next fifty-two years they lived in Charlottetown, Montreal, Goose Bay, N.L., Halifax, Port Cartier, P.Q., and Saanich, B.C. She was widowed in 1994. In 1996, she married Donald John MacIntyre of River Denys, and they retired to Gander, N.L., and Dartmouth, N.S. After Don’s death, she continued to live independently in her beloved Horizon Court apartment, until moving to the Shannex Retirement Home. Peg was predeceased by her husbands, Lloyd and Don; her parents; her sisters, Elaine and Charlotte; and her mother-in-law, Maud Huelin. She was the last family member of her generation, outliving twenty one first cousins. She is survived by those who loved her; her daughter Rae (Jamie Benson); her son Carson (Carol Doucet); her son Kim (Shonn Atkinson); her grandchildren, Sarah (Walter Hannam); Eric Benson; Robbie Martin; James Martin; her step-daughter, Donna MacIntyre. The family is indebted to Dr. W. R. Lee for his care of Peg over the last twenty years, and to the Shannex for the welcoming home it provided during her last months.
