Atwood; Mae Elizabeth, 88 years, passed away peacefully at Parkland at the Lakes, Glasgow Hall on January 10, 2017. Born in Dartmouth on August 15, 1928, she was a daughter of the late James and Aileen Cleary, granddaughter of the late
Mae Leslie (Spears) and wife of the late and much loved husband Wendell of 65 years. She is survived by caring daughter and son-in-law Janet and Brian Tarbox, special grandson Craig (Haley) Tarbox, loving granddaughters Leslie Miller (Corey), and Danielle (Steve) Irvine; great grandchildren Emily, who gave much happiness and enjoyment; Jackson and Hannah who brought love and happiness; and two nice boys Cody and Gavin. Also surviving are sisters Lena Woods, Joyce Laybolt, Shirley (Ted) Barkhouse; brothers Ernest (Jean) Cleary (BC), and James (Jenny) Cleary; sisters in law Phyllis Atwood and Bonnie Richardson (ON) and brother in law Doug Milmine (ON). Mae is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by much loved daughter, Brenda Miller; sister Glenda Milmine; and brothers in law, Oliver Woods, Fred Laybolt, Raymond Atwood andBernard Richardson.
Mae worked at Moirs for 11 years and was a long time member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, W.A. and A.C.W. where she always enjoyed her many friends. Mae enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, great granddaughter and many non family members especially Gordon Hagar.
Mae liked to travel and had fond memories of her trips to Ontario and BC with family and friends (the late Murray and Gladys Prest) Mae also enjoyed many years of bowling. Mae would like to thank the Rev. Edwin Ebsary for his thoughtfulness, and her many friends for their visits, cards, flowers, phone calls and treats over the years. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.L.Mattatall Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. A service will be held Monday January 16, 2017 at 11 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit , Gaston Rd with the Rev. Edwin Ebsary officiating. Internment to be attended by immediate family. If you wish, donations in memory of Mae could be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice. Family flowers only.
