It is with heavy hearts that we said goodbye on August 7th, 2023 to our much loved, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Born and raised in Sheet Harbour, Lorraine moved to Ontario in the early 1960’s where she met and married the love of her life, Ken. After the birth of their twin boys, they happily settled in Nova Scotia living in the communities Porter’s Lake and Dartmouth.
Lorraine is survived by son Stewart and grandsons Kolin and Wyatt. Lorraine was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her husband, Ken and son, Scott; parents, Josephine and Jerome Currie; brothers, Frank and Kenneth; sisters, Claire, Maude, Louise Arlene, Mary Rose, Geraldine, Ellen and Betty Von.
Lorraine was formerly employed by Halifax Regional School Board, retiring in 1992. The highlight of many of her summers was travelling with Ken in their motorhome, attending camp-outs and music jamborees. Her love of laughter and outgoing, fun-loving spirit will be greatly missed by many. Lorraine treated everyone with such kindness, love and compassion. She especially enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards, bingo, sharing meals and good times with family, friends and neighbours where she was often the last one to say good night and always “One more time!”
Special thanks are extended to the staff at both the Dartmouth General Hospital and Unit 4.1 at the QE II Halifax Infirmary for their compassion shown to Lorraine. Thank you to niece Cathy for your constant kindness and always being there as Lorraine’s best friend as well as friend Dennis for his support and love shown to her.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 14 at 10 am at Saint Genevieve Church, 723 East Chezzetcook Road, East Chezzetcook, NS with Archbishop Currie officiating. A reception for family and friends immediately following in the church hall. Burial will follow is Saint Anslem’s Church Cemetery.
