DUNFORD, Lillian “Elaine” - Of Bedford, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022 at the QE II Victoria, General Site after a brave battle with Parkinson’s with dementia. Born in Middleton, NS, in 1947, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ella Marshall of East Torbrook. After graduating from high school, Elaine worked in the banking field in both Halifax and Vancouver. In 1972 she met Peter, her husband of 49 years, by chance at a shipboard party in Halifax. They married shortly afterward, then went to sea on a number of merchant ships visiting ports in Europe, North America and Asia. On returning to Nova Scotia in 1975, Elaine resumed her position with the Bank of Nova Scotia until opting to become a full time mum when her first child, Sally, was born. Elaine was an accomplished quilter who also enjoyed gardening and long walks. She was a devoted mother, grandmother to Mallory, Ben and Megan, sister and auntie. Her love for family and friends knew no bounds and a warm welcome always awaited those that would visit or stay. Elaine is survived by her husband Peter; son Dan (Sarah) of Fall River; daughter Sally (Shawn) Young of Hammonds Plains; brothers Phillip of Saint John; Stewart (Kay) of East Torbrook and Edgar (Marg) of Port Alberni; sisters Marg Morse of Harmony and Ellen (Ernie) Caldwell of Sackville. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Donald Morse; sister-in-law Ann Parker; nephew David Morse and grand niece Abby. The family would like to thank Dr. Elena Swift for her kindness and support, and recognize the care and guidance provided by the staff in Ward 9A at the VG. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Elaine’s life will be scheduled at a later date when, hopefully, a greater number of family and friends will be able to attend. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of choice. Condolences on line to: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com
