SETTLE, Jeanne Caldwell - 74, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully September 11th in the Dartmouth General Hospital with her beloved husband and sister at her side. She is survived by her daughter Heidi; son Martin (Lori); grandchildren Jordan, Jennifer (Matthew); step-granddaughter Taylor; great-grandson Evan Martin; Sister Donna (George) Kuhn; and devoted and loving friend Mary MacFarland. Born in Yarmouth in 1943, she was the youngest daughter of Martin and Dorothy (Thornton) Oxley. She graduated from Camp Hill Hospital as a CNA in 1961 and worked for a year in Quebec at St. Anne De Bellevue DVA Hospital, and then to the N.S. Hospital in Dartmouth. She was a long time summer resident of the Plantation Camp Ground (45 years), where she and Ralph made lasting friendships. They really enjoyed their winters in Florida and in earlier days took part in many cruises. She was a regular and devoted worshiper at St. James United Church for the past 70 years, where a celebration of their Golden Wedding Anniversary was held on May 27, 2017. Jeanne took very seriously and faithfully her Prayer Partner Activity. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 2pm in St. James United Church, 181 Portland St., Dartmouth. Rev. Fred Snyder officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. No Flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Building Fund of St. James United Church. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. A sincere Thank you and appreciation to the various medical teams on 3 East and the ICU of the Dartmouth General Hospital, who went far and beyond to care for Jeanne during her 10 day stay.
