KEMPTON, Jason Wilfrid – 96, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2012 at Glasgow Hall, Parkland at The Lakes. Born at Middlefield, Queens Co., he was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret Ann (Shirriffs) Kempton. Jason was very active in church and community. He was, for many years, Chairman of the Managing Committee of the Queens Municipal Home at Middlefield. He held also the appointment of Commissioner, administering oaths and receiving affidavits within Nova Scotia. As a trustee of Middledale School he took keen interest in advancing educational opportunities for rural students. Jason operated a general store, garden market and a woodland business until 1988. Jason was a seventy-year member of the Prince of Wales Lodge. He was a communicant of Trinity Church, Liverpool and later of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Dartmouth. Jason was a kind and compassionate family man. After his retirement he and his wife, Nancy, moved to Dartmouth. Surviving are his wife, Nancy (Bower) Kempton, sons Richard (Kristi), Dartmouth and Clary (Debbie), Dartmouth. Grandchildren: Lauren, Toronto; Matthew and Jack, Dartmouth; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jason was predeceased by his brother Edward and by sisters Mildred and Beatrice. A private family service is being arranged. At a later date, a celebration of life will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Locks Rd., Dartmouth with The Rev. Trevor Lightfoot, The Rev. Bert Chestnut and The Rev. Barry Connor officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
