Irene Gloria Whitby

WHITBY, Irene Gloria - 84, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully in the Dartmouth General Hospital on December 17, 2017. Born in Liverpool, N.S. she was the daughter of the late Delbert A. and Theresa M. (Rafuse) Roy. Irene was a long time and devoted member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church. Joe and Irene had a long happy life together. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Irene is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Joe, son; Lawrence A. of Halifax, grandson; Justin T. Whitby of Eastern Passage and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a stillborn daughter; son; Edward J. brothers; Graham and Edward and sisters; Muriel, Sally and Beverley. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday Dec. 21, 2017 in St. Luke’s Anglican Church with Rev. Matthew Sponagle and Rev. Marilyn Newport officiating. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations would be gratefully accepted to the Nova Scotia Food Bank or Canadian Cancer Society.
