It is with loving memory and great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Grace Margaret Murray. Born in Springhill, N.S. on September 13th, 1924 to the late Percy and Grace (Turner) Fawcett she is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Kenneth, son Gordon (Shelley), the pride of her life, grandsons Liam and Graeme, sister Ollie Stonehouse, special nieces goddaughter Ann Rose and Margaret Brundage and many more nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by her sisters Gwendolyn Fawcett and Ruth Harrison and brother Henry Fawcett.
Family played a big part of her life especially revolving around Seawinds, her cottage on the Gulf Shore. Many, many happy hours were spent there with family and friends or just sitting reading and enjoying the incredible sunsets over the water. She took much interest in the accomplishments of all her family and was particularly proud of Liam and Graeme, always willing to talk about them and to share pictures and memories. She and Ken spent many hours at Seawinds and roaming the back roads, exploring and visiting yard sales.
Grace attended Mount Allison in1941 to take the business program and upon completion worked at the Canada Car Company in Amherst, N.S. She started nursing school in 1944 at Moncton Hospital School of Nursing and the Royal Victoria Hospital (Montreal) and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1947. She worked at All Saints Hospital, Springhill and was instrumental in establishing the Springhill Medical Centre. She continued nursing until the family moved to Montreal in 1959 after the mines closed. She moved to Dartmouth in 1963 where she resided while not at the Cottage.
She will be missed by all for her calm reassuring nature and sage advice.
