George was born in Saint John, NB on June 17, 1935. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) from 1953 to 1969 as a cook. During this time, George was stationed at many bases throughout Canada and overseas. He particularly enjoyed his two tours in Canadian Forces base Resolute Bay in Nunavut. During his time in the service George married his wife Kathy on 1 March 1958 (pre-deceased 2017). After retiring from the RCAF he returned to Saint John, NB and continued his culinary career. George and his wife Kathy moved to Halifax in 1993 and retired 1998.
George was predeceased by his son Albert (Lianna) and survived by children Carol and Wayne (Audrey); grandchildren Lacey (Shane), Cody Robins (Stephanie), Cody Ruth (Stephanie), Chantal, Kelsey (Luke); great grandchildren Cole, Hudson, Addison, Michael, Lilly, Layla, Gracie, Liam and Lane; sister Viola (Tom). George was predeceased by his Mother Helen, Father Alex, sister Audrey and brother Jim.
George enjoyed his time going to his son’s cottage on the south Shore of NS and spending time on the dock fishing, having an ale (or two) on the deck and riding on the pontoon boat. He especially was fond of the residents in his apartment building which included games in the social room, the BBQ events and the often-impromptu chats throughout the building. Babe was George’s beloved cat who he spoiled with treats and loads of affection.

The internment of George and Kathy will be at Cedar Hill-Greenwood cemetery in Saint John N.B. at a date to be determined in the new year.
