It is with great sadness that the Clark family announces the passing of our treasured husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on October 25, 2012. Bud was born on July 11, 1931 and is survived by his loving wife and very best friend Ruby Clark (Topping) of 58 years. He is survived by his daughter Sally (Ross) MacIntosh of Stellarton, sons Jeffrey (Louise) of Edmonton, Gary of Sackville and daughter Alison (Walter) Lenny of London, Ontario. Very proud grandfather of Kaitlyn (Corey), Jonathan, Lauren, Jason, Adam, Brandon, Alicia, Elizabeth and great grandfather to Clark. Also survived by his sister Shirley Hewett of Collingwood, Ontario and sister-in-law Marilyn Clark of Washington D.C. He was predeceased by parents George and Olive (Berryhill) Clark of London Ontario and brother Jack of Washington D.C.
In 1973 Bud, Ruby and family transferred to Nova Scotia from Ontario with General Electric Lighting. Following a very successful and rewarding career he retired in 1994.
Bud loved spending time with people, whether he was contributing to a community cause or enjoying good times with friends. He enthusiastically made new acquaintances at home or during numerous travel adventures with Ruby.
His greatest joy however was spending time with his family…he was a real family man who was a source of inspiration to those who were extremely proud to call him their husband, dad or gramps.
His community involvement was a passion and constant source of joy. Bud enjoyed his years as a Director of the Dartmouth Kiwanis Club and the Dartmouth Seniors Center. He volunteered his time for many other causes and enjoyed his time as a member of the Tartan Team at the Halifax International Airport warmly greeting visitors to his home, Nova Scotia. Bud also gave graciously of his time and talents to Woodlawn United Church.
Fellowship with his friends was a high priority. He always enjoyed a round of golf, a curling match, a challenging game of bridge/cribbage, or spending time with friends over dinner or at the Owl’s Club.
Bud was a keen and talented musician. This passion, particularly drumming began at an early age in the London Police Boys Band. Music continued to be an important source of joy throughout his life.
Bud lived his life full of love, compassion and integrity. We will all deeply miss his warm smile, gentle touch and kind words of wisdom.
Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Healing Gardens at the Dartmouth General Hospital. (The Healing Gardens, c/o Dartmouth General Hospital, 325 Pleasant Street Dartmouth, Nova Scotia B2Y 3S3 - Keeper Shaneus Arsenault) or another charity of your choice. By family request there will be no visitation.
A celebration of Bud’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday November 02, 2012 at Woodlawn United Church, with Reverend Valerie Kennedy officiating. Immediately following there will be a reception in the church hall. A private family interment will be held at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be forwarded to [email protected]
