She is survived by daughter Greta Otto (David) and grandchildren, Cheryl Otto, Bruce Otto, Lisa Kravis, Natalie (Dana) Kravis Morrisey and seven great grandchildren; sister Ruby (Frank) Bissett; brothers, Elmer and Ross (Sherann).
She was predeceased by her husband Albert; daughter Doreen Kravis; brother Mitchell; and son-in-law, Joe Kravis and sister-in-law Hilda Morash, as well as three infant siblings.
Esther was largely a stay at home mother, having taken over the care of her young siblings when her mother passed away, as well as the homemaker for her own family. Family was very important to her. Esther took pride in her handwriting. She insisted that her daughters get a good education and went out to work to pay for “town” school.
She was an avid knitter and loved to knit for any family and community babies. She was an excellent cook and baker, especially homemade bread. She loved flowers and birds.
She was an adherent of the Church of Saint Andrew, Cole Harbour for most of her life and Christ Church, Stellarton for several years where she and her husband had retired.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of Mattatall’s Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Visitation will take place on Thursday July 5, from 7-9pm. Funeral service to take place at 2pm Friday July 6th, from the Church of Saint Andrew, 7 Circassion Drive, Cole Harbour, with Rev. Katherine officiating. Interment in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Cole Harbour Road. Reception to follow at the church.
