Passed away Sept 13, 2022, Dartmouth General Hospital
She fought a good battle, determined to the end.
Strong-willed, spiritual, passionate about life.
She loved bright colours! Edith really enjoyed special occasions never missing an opportunity to decorate her house with bright colours and glitter. She loved gardening and when her children were growing up, she planted two big gardens which provide vegetables for the family all winter. She was an entrepreneur by necessity, making wooden lawn ornaments to sell, sewing and doing clothes repairs which helped meet the needs of her family.
She loved her flowers and always had some growing somewhere. I wonder how many people at 95 years old can say they planted a small vegetable garden. Gardening gave her a focus and purpose.
Edith was born in Hartford, NS to Archibald Lewis and Winnifred Carter.
She is predeceased by husbands George Bailey, and Gordon MacPherson.
Predeceased by her brothers Stanley, Gerald, Russell, Cecil and George (Lewis), sisters Beulah (Langille) and Frances (Rushton).
Survived by her son Wayne, Ont., daughters Marilyn, Amherst and Sharen (David) Dartmouth, and grandsons Alex (Leanne) Ottawa and Scott Squamish BC. and niece Geraldine (McGill).
She was a member of the Stevens Road Baptist Church and life member of the W.M.S.
She wanted to out do her sister Frances and live to age of 97 but the good lord had other plans.
Be at peace in your beautiful Garden.
Funeral to be held at Thursday, September 22 at 10 am at the Stevens Road Baptist Church (2 Stevens Road, Dartmouth). Reception to follow in church. The internment will be directly after at the Rockley Cemetery at approximately 2 pm.
