On March 16th we lost a very important part of many Dartmouth communities with the unexpected passing of Davin Moxsom. Born on July 8th, 1983 in Halifax, Davin spent his life making a large impact on anyone who had the pleasure to meet him. His greatest passion was rugby. The game spoke to him for many reasons and the values important to the game of rugby aligned perfectly with his personal ones; integrity, passion, respect and solidarity. Over the last 20 years Davin was an integral part of Rugby Nova Scotia. Since the inception of the Dartmouth PigDogs Rugby Football Club he was a great player, teammate, friend, coach and executive. This past January Davin was elected President of the PigDogs. Davin also spent many years coaching the Dartmouth High Rugby team where he instilled those aforementioned values into hundreds of young people. His favourite time of year was Truro 7’s and if you played rugby in the Maritimes, you’d know Davin. While he was tenacious on the field, Davin was known for being a loveable, selfless, big-hearted man off the field. He had an infectious smile and could make anyone laugh, especially his coworkers and customers at Tim Hortons where he loyally spent the entirety of his career. His kind soul will not be forgotten, hilarious stories of his antics will be told many times over and the positive impact he made in so many lives will live on through all of us. Teaglach.
He is survived by his mother Linda Moxsom Skinner (Tom), his grandmother Marie George (Mervyn), his paternal grandmother Freda McCormick, his brothers Ryan (Kiersten) and Brenton (Courtney), his stepsisters Amber Skinner (John) and Jillisa Mae Skinner. Davin had a large family that loved him including aunts and uncles, Shane O'Leary (Shelley), Dawn Wallace (Bob), Michael O'Leary (Laurie), Wayne Moxsom (Cindy), Laurie Moxsom (Bonnie), Janet Flemming (Ed) and Eric Moxsom (Sharon), and many cousins. He is predeceased by his father Alan Moxsom, his grandfathers Walter Moxsom and Jean Ayotte. Davin also leaves behind his extended rugby family.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to make a donation to Rugby Nova Scotia in support of the Davin Moxsom Scholarship Fund.
Visitation will be at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 - 9 and Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A celebration of Davin's life will be held on Friday, March 24th at 2 pm at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Rugby players are invited to wear their jerseys. Rev. Edwin Ebsary officiating
