DARRAGH, David Michael – of Eastern Passage, It is so tough to announce that our David – a loving, loyal and devoted husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and true friend to many – passed suddenly on June 17, 2016. Born in Amherst, NS in 1948, he was the son of the late James Morell and Harriet (Venus) Darragh. David’s 45 year career in sales and marketing encompassed the telecommunications, heavy equipment and industrial products industries. He was also a former owner/partner in Atlantic Industrial Distributors and Valley Power Products, culminating in sales with MJS Holdings Limited. His interests and hobbies included hunting, carpentry, wood working as well as a passion for history. David had a keen interest in politics and liked to “stir the pot” to incite discussion. During these years David met a girl from Eastern Passage – Kim MacDonald – who became his lifelong partner. This beautiful relationship had many shared and happy moments, highlighted with the birth of their precious Lauren. Their special times included day excursions to various parts of Nova Scotia, along with trips across Canada and to the U.S. The relationship he and Lauren shared was one to be sought after. David was known for his adventurous spirit beginning as far back as the summer of 1974 when he crossed Canada solo on his Honda 500 motorcycle to Duncan, B.C. and all the way back to Dartmouth, N.S. – much to the worry and dismay of his dear mom. He repeated this trip with Kim, Lauren and Clinton in 2007; only this time in a 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. Though restricted in his adult years with his arthritis, David stayed on the move with his main objective being to support, help and provide for his family. David’s outgoing personality, friendly demeanor, sense of humour and simple grace earned him a lot of respect from his business associates, his extended family and many friends. David’s quiet acts of kindness, mentorship, loyalty and love for us are his beautiful legacy. David is survived by his loving wife Kim (MacDonald) Eastern Passage; daughter Lauren (Clinton) McLeod and grandson Grady David, Bedford; brothers John (Frankie), West Porters Lake; Alan (Judy), Dartmouth; special cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews; special aunt Martha McCordick, Mississauga, Ont. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth on Friday, June 24th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
