It is with great sadness the family of Barbara Pellerin share the news of her passing. Barb passed away peacefully at the Arborstone Enhanced Care Nursing Home on Saturday June 29, 2024. On June 5, 2024, she celebrated her 76th birthday.
Barb is predeceased by her father (James Frances), her mother (Muriel Olive) and her husband (Russell Francis). She is survived by her daughter (Cherie Marie), grandson (Carter Russell), sister (Brenda Dorothy) and brother (Terrance James).
Barb, born in Halifax, on June 5th, 1948, Nova Scotia, lived her younger years in Purcell’s Cove with her family.
Barb worked for 35 years with Environment Canada and retired at the Queen Square building in Dartmouth.
Barb enjoyed many things in life and did not sweat the small stuff. You would always find her with a smile on her face, ready and willing to help anyone with anything.
She was one of the most kind-hearted, genuine, and generous people one could ever meet. She enjoyed crochet, her Harlequin books, shopping for those “find nowhere else” finds at Value Village. She also enjoyed her suppers out with her fellow retirees, whom she worked with at Environment Canada.
Barb was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in the mid 2000’s. She did not let this disease stop her from anything. As the disease progressed, she took the chance to have Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery. This was a huge quality of life changer for her and she did not take for granted this chance.
Barb enjoyed spending her time with her daughter (Cherie) and her grandson (Carter) whom she doted on with everything she had. Barb adored her grandson and was immensely proud of him and everything he accomplished in her lifetime.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff on the 3rd floor of Arborstone Enhanced Care Nursing Home for their dedication, compassion, and care during Barb’s time with them.
On Monday, July 8th, there will be a service, from 12 noon to 1pm, and reception, from 1 to 3pm, to celebrate Barb’s life at A.L.Mattatall Funeral Home at 217 Portland Street.
The family would ask you to consider sharing your favorite memory of Barb on this page for her family to remember those times.
