Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Albert and Helen (Hogan) Pye, he was a resident of New Bedford before moving to Dartmouth in 1963.
Mr. Pye was a Supervisor at Berkshire–Hathaway for over 40 years until his retirement and served his country as a United States Army Veteran during World War II. John enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, was an avid bowler and loved playing pool at the Dartmouth COA.
Mr. Pye is survived by his son John E. Pye Jr and his wife Diane Sylvia-Pye of E. Freetown; three grandchildren Jonathan M. Pye and his wife Kelly of Dartmouth, Rebecca L. Pye of New Bedford and Katherine A. Correia and her husband Darrell of Acushnet; four great grandchildren Maxwell J. Pye, Norah E. Pye, Kenneth J. Pye and Madison R. Webb; a niece Cheryl Araujo; a nephew Norman Gunderson and his God Daughter Janice Moniz.
Mr. Pye was predeceased by his sister Eileen Smith.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 9am in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 7pm in the funeral home.
