John C. Feiteira, 65, of Dartmouth, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2020 in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Ildeberta M. (Teixeira) Feiteira with whom he shared 43 blissful years of marriage and the loving father and friend of Chrissy Ann and Lisa Marie Feiteira.
Born in Ponta Garca, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Carlos Costa Feiteira and Gilberta (Sousa) Feiteira. He came to the United States in 1967. He loved all things involving his Azorean heritage.
Originally from New Bedford where he met his wife, the two decided to build a house in Dartmouth in 1986 to raise their family. They have resided there for the past 33 years.
One of John’s biggest passions was gardening, he’d spend hours in the yard tending to his trees, plants, veggies & flower beds. Most important to John was being surrounded by his family, family meant everything to him. He also loved dancing with his wife, reading, traveling, photography, listening to music, and loved animals, especially his dog Jasmine. John was a devout Catholic that attended mass every Sunday.
John worked as a photographer for many years and owned his own landscaping business, JLC Landscaping. He had worked at Titleist for 46 years until his retirement.
Surviving in addition to his wife and daughters; son in law Rock Raxter of Fairhaven; The Boys: Chris Moniz and Scott Moniz and his wife Elena of New Bedford; two sisters, Lucia Donovan and her husband Greg of Marion and Natalie Da Costa of New Bedford; his father and mother-in-law, Manuel and Germana Teixeira of New Bedford; many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, extended family in the Azores, and many dear friends. He was the brother of the late Luisa Moniz and Fatima Amaral.
John was passionate about organ donation after a successful life saving transplant. He encouraged others to become donors and give the gift of life. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to MGH Liver Transplant Program, c/o Lynn Wilcott, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
All services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
