Brenda M. (Bourgon) Van Laarhoven, 62, of New Bedford, passed away on October 17, 2011 at her daughter’s home following a brief battle with cancer. She was the wife of Edward Van Laarhoven and the late Stephen Pacheco.
A daughter of the late Gustave and Mary (Chaves) Bourgon, Brenda grew up in Dartmouth and lived most of her life in New Bedford. She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and the St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Brenda worked her entire career as a registered nurse, spending the last 20 years working in hospice. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, shopping, playing in the waves at the beach and spending time with her loving family.
Surviving in addition to her husband is her daughter, Tara Pacheco; her son, Brett Pacheco and his girlfriend Alexia, all of New Bedford; and her sister, Joyce Bourgon of Great Barrington, MA.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
